All MDB cribs are made in the grand US of A! Everything is head-quartered in Los Angeles, CA and meticulously inspected by a team of professionals before being packaged and shipped out.

Question#3: What type of wood are their cribs made of?

Around 80% of DaVinci cribs are made from special forested Radiata Pine wood from New Zealand. DaVinci also uses Rubberwood from Malaysia and Sepetir wood from special forestation programs in Asia.

Question #4: Are these cribs eco-friendly?

DaVinci's Radiata Pine is shipped special to the US from special reforestation areas in New Zealand that practice eco-friendly logging. From day one, Million Dollar Baby has been ecologically conscious; planting a tree for each one they chop.

Question#5: How many collections of cribs does DaVinci make and what's the difference?

There are sixteen collections and counting! This includes their most popular Kalani collection and the three new Babyletto styles that are DaVinci's take on clean and sophisticated design. Another one of their most celebrated styles is the Jenny Lind collection from the century old design that was invented in dedication to the famous opera singer.

Question#6: What's the average cost? This of course depends on what style of crib you are looking for. The three main styles are standard, mini crib and convertible crib. All of these styles are around the same price and are surprisingly economical, averaging at about 0.

Question #7: Does DaVinci make portable cribs, mini cribs, round cribs?

DaVinci actually makes combinations of the portable and mini cribs. They make portable mini cribs and portable standard cribs and also the standard style mini crib. The portable mini crib is an excellent option to the pack-n-play since it can be easily broken down and is little enough to fit into the trunk of a car. Some also come with castor wheels for you to transfer around the home you are visiting. They do not make round cribs at this time.

Question #8: They make several types of convertible cribs, what does that mean?

Convertible cribs are much more than a baby bed, they also provide the next step after the crib. These cribs can transform from 2 to 4 times, giving you the option of how you want to transition your child into their big kid sleeping phase. Some parents choose to go from crib to the full size head and foot board transformation, and some choose to convert their crib to every step: toddler bed, day bed, then full size bed. Get the 2-in-1 for only the toddler bed option, or the 4-in-1 for a sleeping space she can have her whole childhood.

Question #9: Has DaVinci ever had any crib recalls? If so which ones?

Question #10: How do I know that DaVinci Cribs are safe for my baby?

After rigorous testing, DaVinci cribs not only pass the CPSC federal safety program and are JPMA certified, but they also surpass the meticulous Canadian and Japanese safety requirements as well. An example of this is their paint testing. The average children's furnishings have paint rated at 300ppm, which is considered "low toxicity". At MDB, their paint testing is at 2ppm, one of the lowest in the industry!

We found six customers have reviewed this crib, and they are all extremely positive. The maximum rating that can be achieved for these reviews is 5*. This crib achieved five 5* reviews, and one 4*, so absolutely none at 3* or below which is fantastic, although we do appreciate the reviewing numbers are less than some of the other cribs we have featured.

The five-star reviews were awarded by customers for this crib now being produced in a non-drop-side version, because it is easy to assemble, is an extremely good price, it is sturdy, it is light and easy to move thanks to the casters. One person even thought that it should cost more than the price paid due to the quality and design, so what a bargain! The four star review was awarded because the customer found a few nicks and scratches on the wood, but still described their purchase as cute, safe product with okay workmanship.

Safety is important too, the Da Vinci Jenny Lind Crib is manufactured from Asian Hardwood, and is a stationary sided crib. So there are no moving parts to get little fingers caught and no chance of drop-sides accidentally dropping. This Crib is JPMA certified, and comes in a safe non-toxic finish.

Other features of this lovely crib include casters to make moving the it easier, and two teething rails to help protect the crib rails.

We found an overwhelming number of positive reviews online for DaVinci cribs from very satisfied customers. Most reviewers seem to agree that the Kalani crib is extremely sturdy, beautiful and very well designed. One parent stated that his new crib looks just as beautiful as the pictures online and is more than satisfied with his purchase. She not only raved about the crib, she also marveled at how many different styles and colors they had for crib sets and beautiful changing tables.

A lot of people commented that they especially liked the fact that there are no movable parts which seem to be a safety issue with other styles of cribs and baby furniture in general. Another very frequently mentioned comment was that the instructions were simple to understand and the crib was very easy to assemble in a relatively short period of time. Many also commented to the ease and simplicity of adjusting the mattress height and how it can be done in just minutes without having to take off the crib bedding.

Although almost all of the reviews are positive, there are some customers that did complain about how easily the wood can become dented and scratched if not handled with care on the wood crib. The DaVinci Kalani Convertible crib is constructed with New Zealand pine which is a much softer wood and can become damaged a lot easier than other woods. Most of these reviewers, however, did comment that despite this one negative characteristic, this crib far exceeded their expectations. One reviewer commented that all baby cribs scratch and dent from wear and tear and this one will be no exception. For the teething baby, she recommended purchasing bite guards for the railings to protect the wood.

There were only a handful of customers that commented about the convertible features of the Kalani crib, but those that did stated that it was very easy to convert the crib to a day bed and semi-toddler bed and having the safety rail included was very convenient.
